Chess rules part 3

Hello chess players!

Welcome to my blog!

In this article we are going to finish our lesson of how pieces are moved.
Let's continue our lesson!!

  • The Rock is a very valuable piece being worth as 5 pawns and having a wide reach. The movement is the easiest to learn of all pieces. Rooks can go forward, backward, to the left or to the right. Of course, we have to mention that the rook can not change directions in the same move.

  • The Bishop is worth 3 pawns. The bishop is the ruler over the diagonals of the chess board.

  • The Queen is  the most important and powerful piece in the game of chess after the King. Each player has just one queen, she is worth 9 pawns and she can become the most dangerous piece in a chess game. She can move in any direction ,like a rock and a bishop, and any number of squares. The one thing she can’t do is jump over other pieces. The Queen can capture any of the opponent’s pieces that are in her way.

  • The Knight. His value is equal to 3 pawns. The knight is the only piece that can jump over other pieces. It moves in an L-shape over the squares. This means that this chess piece first moves two squares in one direction for example to the left, to the right, back- or forwards and then one square into a horizontal or vertical direction.

  • The Pawn has the fewest options of movement of all the pieces. On its first move, it has the option to go one or two squares forward. On all other moves, a pawn can only go one square straight forward. It captures the other pieces diagonally.

We have finally finished with the movement of the pieces!!! In the next articles, we are going to advise and learn some openings.
